There're times when we're getting ready to ride and there's a chance of rain on the forecast or it’s a slight drizzle out without much threat of a downpour where a full-blown rain jacket might be overkill but we still want to keep the core warm and dry. This happens to us a lot during the spring and summer where a stray shower might pop up and we want just a touch of protection and that's exactly what the Men's Pro Team Rain Gilet from Rapha offers. It's a sleeveless waterproof layer that's light enough to pack down in your jersey pocket when it's not needed, but it's always on call when it is.
Similar to the Race Cape, the Pro Team Rain Gilet uses the same race-proven poly-laminate waterproof fabric that'll keep your core dry from the rain and the dropped tail offers additional protection from road spray. It also shares the same form-fitting cut as the Race Cape which prevents the fabric from flapping in the wind and it's ideally suited for when you're seeking additional protection than from a windproof gilet, but don't need the bulk of a jacket either. This vest would be our first choice during fast training rides and races in unpredictable conditions.
If it's not needed, it fits in a jersey pocket. When things clear up and if you happen to leave it on, the large, low-friction zipper with textured handle makes it easy to adjust the amount of airflow needed even while wearing full-finger gloves.

The Pro Team Lightweight Rain Vest is pocket-sized insurance against changeable weather. It has been made possible by a proprietary three-layer fabric, developed by Rapha over the past two years, which weighs less than 100 grams per square metre yet retains the high stretch needed for a race-ready fit and waterproof qualities necessary to protect riders from the elements.
The Vest packs down small, but doesn't compromise on design details. The front placket features the same velcro tabs as the Pro Team Race Cape, so it can be worn 'open' for maximum ventilation, and the two-way zipper means either half of the Vest can be opened with one hand while riding. The front and side panels hold reflective graphics for added visibility, and the seams are internally taped to protect against rain.
